The Bridgewater State University Chemistry Club student chapter has made strides at becoming a club that not only involves Bridgewater State students, but also the surrounding community. The club has continued to promote learning about chemistry and the opportunities that being a scientist presents. Throughout the year, the Chemistry Club will host events open to students in the surrounding Bridgewater area. Many of these events will work to encourage students in certain age groups to think critically about the world around them and inspire them to care more about science. The outreach events will be for students in grades 5-8 where they conduct safe and exciting experiments in order to have a better understanding of chemistry and science in general. This allows them to become familiar with the lab setting in a fun way to get them excited about science and discovery. Chemistry club members will conduct a survey for the students in order to see if there is an increased interest in science after outreach events. As the students learn more about science, the Chemistry Club members are expanding their knowledge as well as their leadership and communication skills by researching and leading activities to promote science in its simplest form.
