Polycyclic aromatic azaborines are exceptionally valuable because of their electronic and optical properties which can be beneficial in designing sensors and fluorophores We have designed, synthesized and investigated a series of red- and blue-shifted fluorescent polycyclic azaborine chromophores as high-luminescent organic materials. The incorporation of electron withdrawing substituents to the left side of the polycyclic azaborine chromophores resulted a 130 nm red-shift of the fluorescence from 490 nm to 620 nm with a 200 nm Stoke shift. The incorporation of electron donating moieties to the right side of the chromophores also resulted in a red-shift in the fluorescence by 82 nm with a 105 nm Stokes shift. Furthermore, the addition of a halogen as an electron withdrawing group to the left side of the azaborine chromophores similarly resulted in a red-shift of the fluorescence by 15 nm. Conversely, the addition of electron donating substituents to the left side and the addition of electron withdrawing substituents to the right side of the polycyclic azaborine chromophores resulted in a blue-shift of the fluorescence of the azaborine chromophores. Based on these findings, we have devised a new method to tune the fluorescence of the azaborine chromophores.<br/>
