The nickel catalyzed stereospecific reductive cross-electrophile coupling reactions of 2-vinyl-4-halotetrahydropyrans and 2-aryl-4-halotetrahydropyrans is discussed.  The ring contraction proceeds with a high degree of stereospecificity and furnishes synthetically useful cyclopropane products.  Surprising stereochemical outcomes and mechanistic insights are also discussed<br/>
