The heterobimetallic metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) of the type HKUST-1 were obtained by post-synthetic cation exchange processes in the presence of Mn2+, Fe2+, or Co2+ using solvothermal conditions. The elemental composition of these products was analyzed by ICP-OES showing partial substitution of copper ions in the parent MOF. Characterization techniques such as TGA, p-XRD, IR spectroscopy, and gas isotherms for the N2 and CO2 adsorption will be presented as means to elucidate the effects of post-synthetic modifications in the HKUST-1 MOF.
