We will report on the synthesis and characterization of a homologous series of theniyl-containing compounds, which we anticipate will participate in oxidative dimerization reactions. The oxidative dimerization reactions result in the formation of a carbon-carbon bond. We have employed a variety of experimental techniques to characterize these molecules and their reactivity including: NMR spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, UV-vis absorption spectroelectrochemistry, and fluorescence spectroscopy. We will present the results of our investigation in the context of emerging solar fuel technologies.
