The ACS Examinations Institute (ACS-EI) developed the Anchoring Concept Content Map (ACCM) as a tool to aid chemistry departments in programmatic assessment; subdiscipline specific maps for General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry have been published in the Journal of Chemical Education. The structure of the content map is hierarchical, with Level 1 and 2 statements addressing Big Ideas and Enduring Understandings spanning the entire chemistry curriculum, and Level 3 and 4 statements addressing Subdisciplinary Articulations and Content Details for the individual areas within the chemistry curriculum. The ACCM for Inorganic Chemistry has been developed based on input from ACS-EI sponsored workshops and nationwide surveys of inorganic chemistry faculty. This poster will present the Level 3 and 4 statements for the inorganic chemistry map, and report alignments of question items from the ACS Inorganic Chemistry and Foundations of Inorganic Chemistry examinations. Conceptual holes in exam coverage will be identified to aid in the development of future inorganic chemistry exams.
