Green chemistry can be employed as a novel approach in the synthesis of dendrimers. These globular molecules have shown great promise through various biological applications, such as mimicking structures on the surfaces of different cell types, thereby acting as cellular decoys. The current study is founded on the implementation of green synthetic techniques in order to synthesize an octavalent dendrimer. These methods allow for decreased reaction times, and a minimalized use of organic solvents. The reaction sequence consists of a multi-step divergent pathway with two branching steps. The linker was synthesized through a two-step process, the first of which was conducted neat in a sodium hydroxide solution, resulting in overall 42% yield. This then underwent a mesylation reaction with a yield of 84%. Next, the core was branched to its tetravalent form using a potassium carbonate as the base, giving a 38% yield. From here, the dendrimer will be branched to its octavalent form, again under neat conditions in sodium hydroxide, followed by the addition of another short linker, yielding the final dendrimer core ready for glycosylation.<br/>
