Magnetic bimetallic FeCu nanoparticles supported on the reduced graphene oxide (rGOFeCu) is synthesized and characterized by transmission electron microscopy and XRD. Nano-sized FeCu on the graphene is successfully synthesized as confirmed by TEM. Iron has a strong bactericidal effect towards bacteria. To better understand the antibacterial activity of rGOFeCu, we conducted an antibacterial activity of the different compositions of nanocomposite towards the <i>Escherichia coli</i>. In the same concentration and incubation time conditions, rGOFeCu showed the highest antibacterial activity, as compared to the rGO-supported iron. Results show that an antibacterial activity is time and concentration dependent. rGOFeCu with 5% copper loading exhibits excellent removal efficiency of TCA as compared to others. This rGOFeCu represents a highly potential material for antibacterial activity and remediation of other contaminants in wastewater.
