By increasing the dependence on the renewable energy production, the large scale energy storage systems (ESSs) are highly demanded. Redox flow batteries (RFBs) have been considered as the promising candidates to store the surplus power produced by renewable energy plants using solar and wind energy because of their long life cycle, the flexibility of localization and ambient operating temperature. Several metal complexes were successfully synthesized and their electrochemical and physical properties were also studied using FT-IR spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA).
