The promise of nanotechnology includes applications in chemical sensing, bioimaging, drug delivery and therapeutics.  A subset of promising nanomaterials in this regard are inorganic ones.  The promise of these inorganic nanomaterials, however, is tempered by the limited understanding of their interactions and fate at the molecular level in real biological and environmental systems.  In this talk I will highlight recent results from our lab and collaborting labs to understand the nano-bio interface and how to predict (if possible) what downstream impacts nanomaterials will have on living systems.
