Cannabis has been one the most prolific natural drugs used homeopathically and recreationally in the US over the last 30 years. The US government (while patenting the drug) has codified Cannabis as a Schedule 1 narcotic, severely limiting the ability to scientifically study the potential medical benefits of this plant. With the recent “Green” movement pushing States to legalize Medical Marijuana there are burgeoning opportunities for scientists. Chemists, lab technicians and chemical engineers are all in great demand as we launch the first new industry of the 21st century. Doctors need accurate science in order to recommend the correct cannabinoid profile and dosage. Patients need to be able to make informed decisions on what the correct cannabinoid make up should be for the ailments they are attempting to address. Communities need to be educated on what are the benefits and dangers of Cannabis. All of these issues will require Chemists and lab technicians to assist in the development of a well-regulated health and safety foundation for what is projected to be a multi billion-dollar industry.
