<br/>In recent years, homogeneous bimetallic complexes have been used to model both heterogeneous catalytic systems and natural systems which employ bimetallic reaction centers for the conversion of small molecules. Among them, bimetallic complexes using symmetrical naphthyridine-based binucleating ligands have been investigated, but studies have thus far been focused on homobimetallic complexes. Expanding on these results, the synthesis and selective coordination chemistry of unsymmetrical naphthyridine-based binucleating ligands has been investigated. These ligands reacts with a variety of metal precursors to form homobimetallic and heterobimetallic 1<sup>st</sup> row transition metal complexes, which have been structurally and electrochemically characterized. The reactivity of these complexes with small molecules has also been investigated.
