Since 2003, students in the sophomore organic chemistry courses at Gordon College (Wenham, MA) have participated in a service-learning outreach project which we call the Green Organic Literacy forum (GOLum). To date over 500 students have worked in about 50 teams to bring outreach to a host of others, near and far. Students have gone into high school classrooms, nationally-renowned musuems, ACS national headquarters, science festivals, and other more unique venues. In this lecture we will discuss implementation, a range of stakeholders, and provide anecdotal data about the impact on the outreach advocate students and the audiences to which hey bring their outreach.
