Infrared imaging is gaining attention as a technique used in the examination of cotton fibers and its products. This type of imaging combines spectral analysis with spatial resolution to create visual images that examine sample composition and distribution. An FTIR microscope equipped with Focal Plane Array detector (FPA) and a single reflectance accessory was employed to examine cotton fibers undergoing secondary cell wall development, and to visualize the distribution of this developmental process in a cotton fiber bundle. Observed changes to the C-O bending region mirrored changes in the fiber cell wall development and maturity.  The single reflectance FPA technique was also employed to examine treatment of cotton fibers products. Changes in C-H and O-H bands followed cotton treatments that targeted surface waxes and other non-cellulosic materials. Our results suggest that infrared chemical imaging can be used to asses properties of fiber bundles and cotton products.    <br/>
