Work has been done towards establishing a predictive model for the rational design of flow reactors for photoredox catalysis reactions. Upon utilizing six different reactors with varying internal diameters, the requirements for effective light penetration will be established. Reaction efficiency will be measured by investigating parameters such as residence time, light intensity, and reactor internal diameter. By testing well-established photoredox reactions with differing mechanistic pathways, the relationship between reaction mechanism and flow reactor design will be evaluated. Ultimately, this will allow for the efficient scale up of industrially important photoredox methods in flow.
