Understanding molecular behaviors within nano-space can offer new perspectives on biological phenomena in Nature, opens the way to highly unusual and selective forms of catalysis, and offers new approaches to separation protocols via molecular protection.<br/>Towards understanding the properties of dimer, capsular complexes formed by a deep-cavity cavitand (Figure 1), we will discuss the encapsulation of mono-unsaturated fatty acids and their methyl esters, as well as the effects encapsulation has on the hydrolysis of the latter.  We will also discuss the encapsulation of a series of alcohol, aldehyde and alkene homologues to this capsule and reveal how the guest properties control their susceptibility to oxidation by exogenous, solution-based reagents. Finally, we will also present the use of the dimer cavitand capsule as a template for controlling macrocylization processes occurring within their interior.<br/>
