Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a promising class of porous material that has potential applications in gas sorption, separation and catalysis. The variation in both chemistry and topology brings infinite possibility for researchers to explore new metal-organic compounds. Given tons of metal-organic frameworks being reported, opportunities are still open to develop novel framework design strategies that lead to deep control over the framework, including pore distribution, framework composition, functionality and etc. Herein, we have introduced a novel pore space partition method, called symmetry guided cooperative coordination by successfully synthesizing three new families of metal-organic compounds. The newly discovered structural platforms have maintained high density of open metal sites while achieving pore space partition. Moreover these compounds allow tremendous tuning on their compositions with regard to the metal combination, metal ratio and ligand functionalities, that represent a huge class of materials with tuned properties. Comparative CO<sub>2</sub> and H<sub>2</sub> sorption study have partially demonstrated the power of composition control over the materials properties.
