ZnO nanomaterials are rapidly advancing the way we think of electronics, energy, and even biomedical applications.  Material semiconducting that is naturally n-type, but can be doped with various metals to alter their electronic and optical properties. Successfully doped nanorods grown on specific substrates can have applications in diodes, sensors, or solar cells. The rods can be synthesized using CVD, Electrodeposition, and CBD. Our research focuses on growing doped ZnO nanorod arrays on conductive FTO/AZO substrates using microwave assistance. The energy supplied to the ZnO solution varies from lower to higher power and the overall effectiveness of cobalt incorporation is determined using diffuse reflectance to measure the band gap while energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy measures the elemental composition. The doped samples are compared to doped rod arrays grown in a conventional oven and found to be far superior at incorporating the metal at the cost of overall rod uniformity.<br/>
