In the talk I will revise the catalytic properties of relevant oxides with different electronic characteristics and define a new set of descriptors not adapted to represent energies but rather chemical properties. This new methodology describes catalytic properties in terms of acidity/basicity, redox terms and geometric structures and thus is specially suited for materials that present bifunctional properties as is the case of oxide. With respect to the materials reducible, semiconductors, and doped systems will be considered and the transformation of small molecules, biomass-derived ones and water interfaces will be addressed.
