Organic semiconductors have attracted interest for electronic applications due to their potential for use in low-cost, large-area, flexible electronic devices. Organic moieties with high electron affinity (EA) may act as intra- and intermolecular acceptors in pi-conjugated materials for applications organic light-emitting diodes, organic photovoltaics, and organic field-effect transistors, as well as in other areas, such as non-linear optics. In this talk I will discuss the development of non-fullerene acceptors for photovoltaic applications and the use of C-H functionalization reactions for the efficient assembly of organic electronic materials.
