Spectral characterization of proposed diphenylsilafluorene derivatives designed to exhibit restricted intramolecular rotations leading to aggregation-induced emission (AIE) will be reported and compared to the spectroscopic behavior of the parent compound. The ability of the compounds to show enhanced emission when forced to aggregate will be evaluated in solution-phase mixed-solvent nanoaggregate systems.
