The N-heterocyclic carbene ligand 1,3-bis(2-pyridyl)imidazolin-2-ylidene was utilized to synthesize NHC-M complexes. The catalytic activity of these complexes was investigated toward C-C bond forming reactions in aqueous and organic solvent systems. The results suggest that these complexes result in higher conversion rates at lower temperatures relative to complexes supported by the related 1,3-bis(<i>N</i>-methylpyridinium-2-ylmethyl)imidazolin-2-ylidine ligand. <br/>
