<i>Meta</i>-hydroxylated cores are omnipresent in natural products. In the presentation first template assisted <i>meta-</i>hydroxylation reaction will be discussed along with both experimental and computational studies. Interception of intermediates, diversification of the approach and the synthetic applications will also be highlighted.
