Three-dimensional homochiral transition-metal camphorate frameworks are of great interest because of their potential applications in enantioselective processes such as catalysis and separation. In our earlier work, we used chiral D-camphorates to form neutral homochiral metal carboxylate substructures like chains or sheets, which could be subsequently linked or pillared by neutral pyridyl ligands into 3D homochiral frameworks. In this project, we developed comprehensive synthetic method for homochiral materials. Through the use of aromatic guest molecules, 2D homochiral metal carboxylate sheets transform into three-dimentional porous frameworks. We have successfully inserted various aromatic guest molecules in our new structures. Furthermore, we have extracted the aromatic guest molecules out of the frameworks, to make 3D porous materials for further property tests like gas absorption and base catalysis.
