Three isomeric porphyrins, 2-(trifluoromethoxyphenyl)porphyrin, 3-(trifluoromethoxyphenyl)porphyrin, and 4-(trifluoromethoxyphenyl)porphyrin have been synthesized by reacting 2-, 3-, or 4-(trifluoromethoxybenzaldehyde with pyrrole (1:1 molar ratio) in refuxing propionic acid. The porphyrins and their metal derivative were characterized by UV-Vis  and  1 H NMR spectroscopic techniques.  UV-Vis spectral data of these new porphyrins show Soret peaks around 400 nm and four Q-bands around 500-700 nm, characteristic of regular porphyrins The  1 H NMR spectral data shows the signal due to the core hydrogens as a sinlet  between -2.85 ppm and -2.88 ppm. This signal is conspicuosly absent  in the spectra of the metal derivatives  confirming metal ion incorporation
