Metal and semiconductor nanoparticles (NPs) have attracted wide scientific and industrial interest for years due to their unique properties as compared to their bulk counter parts. As a group IV semiconductor, bulk Ge has a small bandgap and a large Bohr exciton radius making it an attractive semiconductor for various applications, including solar cell technology, photodetectors, and integrated flash memory devices. For such applications, being able to control properties through alloying or shape control is especially attractive. I will present our recent work on preparing n-type Ge alloys and hollow Ge nanoparticles via colloidal solutions routes.<br/>
