Safety in academic laboratories is an area of constant improvement.  At UCI a graduate safety fellowship has been started to consistently increase an emphasis on safety. The graduate student fellow’s duties included summarizing SOPs, sitting in on incident reviews, helping to implement new safety equipment and PPE, improving undergraduate safety education, and working to start a graduate student safety initiative. <br/>
