Cloprostenol sodium (CLOP) is used as the active ingredient in veterinary medicinal products, to increase productivity, due to its therapeutic properties. In the cow, this synthetic prostaglandin is used for induction of births in therapeutic doses of 2 mL intramuscular injections that can be repeated for 10 – 14 days, per manufacturer recommendation. However, when they are of poor quality and used indiscriminately, resulting in residues in foods exposed to human consumption. Chemically, cloprostenol is a synthetic, that is an analogue of prostaglandin F2α. The structure was considered by software ChemSkech (Figure 1A), second the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). So, in this work were developed methods for the identification these compounds in pharmaceuticals. Samples content CLOP of stock concentration of 265 µg mL-1 was prepared in the range of 0.02 – 0.2 µg mL-1. The measures were realized in system Ultra Fast Liquid Chromatograph coupled to an arrangement of the photodiodes (UFLC-DAD) of the Shimadzu (Kyoto, Japan). The flow rate by gradient was 0.1 mL min-1. The composition was 80% Millipore and phase B ACN 20%. The analysis was performed in column reverse phase C18 (2.0 mm × 30 mm ID) Shim-pack XR-ODS (Kyoto, Japan). The samples have been clean in syringe filter nylon (13 mm × 0.22 mm). The analysis of samples shows that the elution of CLOP 2.429, 4.513 and 7.290 min evidenced in Figure 1B. The results demonstrate that the analysis of prostaglandin by UFLC-DAD is method presented performance adequate for identification and quality control of samples content CLOP used bovine producers of milk. Besides being the method rapid and of reduced use of toxic reagents.
