The caprylic acid washing step was developed as an attractive alternative to low pH inactivation of enveloped viruses.<br/>The washing step has shown to be particularly useful in Protein A purification step of mAbs which forms aggregates at low pH. Furthermore by incorporating the washing step in the chromatographic program, the tedious extra holding step with low pH treatment of the eluate is avoided. The washing step may be implemented in other chromatographic steps than protein A. Additional effects on Mycoplasma inactivation and reduction of HCP is shown.<br/>(Patent Application.
