Sb2Q3 (Q = S, Se) compounds are important for thermoelectric, optical and photovoltaic applications. Though their synthesis for various nanoparticle forms has been widely studied, their large-scale synthesis is still challenging. In this work, we report a new scalable surfactant-free synthesis method to obtain single crystalline Sb2Q3 nanofibers with availability of band gap tuning. Using a facile solvothermal reaction, Sb2Q3 nanowires are obtained by topotactic conversion from ternary metal chalcogenide compounds. This new process facilitates synthesis of solid solutions of Sb2S3-xSex nanowires, enabling to tune optical band gaps. The thickness of nanofibers is controllable by reaction conditions. The resulting Sb2Q3 nanofibers exhibit enhanced thermoelectric transport properties, compared to the bulk counterparts.
