The dihydropyrimidone (DHPM) chemotype is a heterocycle known to exhibit a wide variety of biological activities. Our lab has developed two derivatives of this chemotype that are biologically active against the virus family Poxviridae and malaria parasite P. falciparum, respectively. Here, we describe the further development and SAR studies of these two bioactive DHPM-derived scaffolds. In addition, efforts to develop these chemotypes as probe molecules for target identification will also be presented.
