This research presents the results of our water quality investigation for six contributing streams of the Huron River in the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti areas. These streams were selected in consultation with the Huron River Watershed Council and contribute to their water quality monitoring efforts. Data was gathered through field and laboratory measurements. Field measurements of conductivity, pH, temperature, and dissolved oxygen were obtained using a GPS-based multi-probe instrument. Laboratory measurements of bromide, chloride, fluoride, nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, and sulfate ions were made using the EPA 300 method for their quantification by ion chromatography. Streams were sampled and surveyed on a weekly basis from March through August 2016. The observed trends in water parameters are correlated with the possible influences from anthropogenic activities in the area.
