<br/>Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is among the most investigated transition metal oxides and is widely used in a large range of consumer products. In addition to its current use in industry as an opacifying agent in paints, plastics, paper textiles, anti-bacterial agents, water and air purification, self-cleaning surfaces, food additives and as a ultra-violet absorber in cosmetic products, TiO2 has been extensively studied in catalysis technology. I am studying that how the reaction media affect the properties of catalysis and how the composition of the selected metal oxide impacts the surface chemistry of the catalyst and its role as a support or dispersion.<br/><br/>The performance of TiO2 is investigated as a catalyst for methane pyrolysis and dry reforming. The methane conversion was measured in two different ways. At first, a fixed-bed reactor was used to do the gas-phase reaction experiments. Then, in the second stage, methane conversion was measured in the LiCl-KCl eutectic melt at 800 °C in a column bubble reactor. The results showed that the higher methane conversion was obtained in a molten salt media. The better conversion in the molten salt media was attributed to the less coke formation on the surface of the catalyst. Most of the produced carbon particles floated on the surface of the melt, so the catalyst was active for a longer time compared to the gas-phase reaction experiment.
