The Kirby Bauer disk method was used to examine the antimicrobial activity of 2-[[4-(1-methylethyl) phenyl] methylene]-hydrazinecarboxamide (1) against Escheria coli. Various solvents (ethanol, DMSO), incubation temperatures/times, and concentrations of 1 were tested in triplicate and the zone of inhibition was measured and compared to controls. Compound 1 did not demonstrate antibacterial activity for any incubation temperature/time or concentration in ethanol; however, some activity was observed when 1 was dissolved in DMSO.
