Vitamins play an important role in growth and maintaining normal nerve and muscle cell function, however, there are significant risks associated with the consumption of excess B vitamins. Therefore accurate reporting and labeling of B vitamins in over-the-counter products is important for consumer health and safety. Through the use of high performance liquid chromatography coupled with UV-Vis and mass spectrometry, the concentration of B vitamins in over-the-counter multivitamins supplements were quantified and verified to the values on their consumer labels.
