Scientific advances are rarely the work of a solitary individual. Collaborations, whether they are between student and advisor, between peers in a lab group, or between different research teams, are the driving force behind advancement and innovation. Working as part of a team can bring countless benefits to your research. A collaborator can share their insights from a different perspective, offer expertise in a new area, and even catch mistakes. Collaborations also often can serve as inspiration for trying out new ideas and chasing otherwise impossible questions. And while a team approach to science is undoubtedly beneficial, it is not without its challenges. Communication can be difficult, personalities can clash, and even schedules can conflict.<br/><br/>As proof that such challenges can be overcome and successful, productive collaborations fostered, several representatives from the NSF funded Centers for Chemical Innovation will share their experiences with collaboration and offer insights to building constructive partnerships. The panel representatives will also be open to questions from the audience.
