This study demonstrates that microwave-assisted synthesis of multi-walled carbon nanotube/graphene oxide nanoribbon (MWCNT /GONR) heterostructures as photocatalyst for CO2 conversion to valuable hydrocarbon. We also study the CO2 conversion performance by using various unzipping level of MWCNT/GONR, which was prepared by tuning microwave power. In this study, different characteristic measurements have been done. Images of transformation of MWCNT to GONR were monitored by using transmission electron microscopy. Raman was used to investigate the graphitic structure of the MWCNT /GONR. The C1s spectra of MWCNT/GONR was collected by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. On the other hand, the energy bandgap and LUMO position of MWCNT/GONR were investigated by using UV-vis spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. Finally, GC-FID were applied to measure the conversion efficiency during 6 hours photocatalytic reaction under 300 W halogen lamp and further get quantum efficiency (QE). With the help of high C-O-C functional group concentration, enhanced band gap, reduced IC/IO and suitable band position , an optimal performance was obtained for MWCNT/ GONR (50W) with total acetaldehyde yield of 6.818 μmol g-catalyst-1 and a QE of 0.0046% , which is 2.44 and 2.78 times higher than those of commercial graphene oxide and commercial MWCNT, respectively.
