Catalysis devoted to energy related processes is today one of the central fields of research, having in perspective a potential great impact on human wellbeing. Nanohybrid materials have emerged as the forefront catalysts, with performances often outclassing traditional heterogeneous catalysts. Hierarchical multicomponent nanohybrids can be fruitfully applied to several types of catalysis, for example such as electro- or photocatalysis for H2 generation, CO2 or O2 reduction. In all cases, it is evident how a crucial factor is the correct interfacing of all the phases, which results in a synergistic interplay often being the key for the observed enhanced activity and selectivity.
