Most polymeric materials derived from fossil fuels are not sustainable or degradable, and persist in the environment causing irreversible damage to humans and the eco-system. Increase in the demand for the production of polymeric materials with superior properties and projected decrease in the availability of fossil fuels adds urgency to consider viable alternatives such as renewable biomass for making sustainable materials. Keeping this in mind, the presentation will highlight our approach of developing biomass derived polymers/oligomers that can be degraded on demand and recycled. The ability to manipulate the wavelength using different light absorbing unit from biomass with programmed degradability will be highlighted
