We present two distinct strategies using RAFT chemistry for the preparation of poly(methyl methacrylate)-poly(vinyl acetate) block copolymers by sequential polymerization of the monomers, without resorting to a switch of reactivity of the RAFT agent between the two steps. The reactivity of the transfer agent was determined in order to set up suitable experimental conditions for a controlled polymerization. The synthetic procedures we developed are versatile and can be adapted to a vast range of more activated monomer-less activated monomer (MAM-LAM) combinations.
