Enhanced Transmission in metal nanostructures hold promise for applications in different fields. Using numerical approaches, we found that enhanced transmission in a nanoparticle array can be controlled by the excited dipoles or quadrupoles, a quick switch between total transmission and total reflection can be realized by changing the incident wavelength over 10 nm. We also investigated the enhanced transmission of particle arrays when they are placed near a flat metal film and found that both localized and propagating surface plasmons are important in enhancing the transmission efficiency of the system.  <br/>
