Photocatalytic organic synthesis has recently attracted intense attention as a powerful method for the construction of molecular frameworks. Central to its appeal is the potential that photochemistry has to offer in the development of environmentally benign processes. However, current methods are not without their drawbacks traditionally employing rare, heavy metals as catalysts. The developement of our catalyst free photochemical reaction, including our current efforts to extend our work to new areas, will be reported.
