We have spent a number of years studying the photophysical properties of Iridium, Platinum and Copper complexes, with the end goal to use them as emitters in organic LEDs.  The use of these efficient phosphorescent emitters allows the OLEDs prepared with them to have near unit quantum efficiencies.  Over the years we have found metal complexes that emit strongly from the near-UV to the near-IR, however, we have spent a good bit of time chasing blue emitters, for both display and lighting applications.  My talk will focus predominantly on blue phosphorescent complexes of iridium, platinum and copper, unless I change my mind and talk about something else.
