Mineral interfaces are becoming increasingly important earth-abundant alternatives in many energy technologies, including (photo)catalysis and battery technologies. Despite this technological promise, little is known about the molecular-scale processes controlling chemistry at these water-mineral interfaces. In particular, knowledge of the structure and dynamics governing energy dissipation pathways is of particular importance, and can inform the design and control of interfacial catalytic processes, for example. I will discuss on-going theoretical efforts to understand the dynamics governing energy flow and solution dynamics at catalytically-relevant water-mineral interfaces. Comparisons will be made with spectroscopic measurements.
