Multidentate ligands offer increased stability over mono and bidentate scaffolds via the chelation effect. Employing tripodal ligands can also provide rigid and well-defined coordination geometries yielding interesting properties and reactivity. In our efforts to explore interesting ligand scaffolds for bioimaging agents we are exploring a series of tripodal transition metal beta-diketonates including complexes with Fe and Co. We are exploring these scaffolds for various applications including <sup>19</sup>F MRI.
