Vibrational spectroscopy is a classical technique and one of the oldest spectroscopic methods. It is a collective term that is used to describe two analytical techniques – infrared and Raman spectroscopy. Although both are non–destructive, non–invasive tools that provide information about the molecular composition, structure, and interactions within a sample, they can be differentiated where in IR is based on periodic changes of dipole moments while Raman is based on polarizabilities. Raman spectroscopy is not utilized as much as IR in undergraduate education. However, recent advances result in the development of relatively cheap and portable Raman devices that can now be used for on-site analysis. In this presentation, the integration of Raman Spectroscopy into the undergraduate instruction and research at Pace University will be discussed. This includes the use of this technique in researches in sol-gel, ionic liquid, pharmaceuticals and other groups of chemicals. The development of simple experiments incorporated in laboratory classes <u>and how experimental results were compared side by side with theoretical calculations</u> will also be presented<br/> <br/>
