A collaborative experimental and computational undergraduate research program at a Liberal Arts Institution will be described that has been operational for nearly 20 years and has produced over 20 research publications since 2010.  Several novel unimolecular decomposition processes for hydrochlorofluorocarbons, HCFCs, and hydrofluorocarbons, HFCs, will be described where the interplay of computational insights and experimental results are essential to unraveling the reaction chemistry.  Typically, unimolecular rate constants are measured and combined with computational results to determine the threshold energy.  Recent work with the 1,1-HX elimination reaction leading to a carbene and HX (X = halogen) will be discussed.  Our overall philosophy for conducting the research program to maximize securing external support and production of research publications will be presented.<br/>
