High school students solved a murder mystery by applying forensic science techniques. Students used UV-visible spectrophotometric analysis to identify a heavy metal poison that was present in sports drink. Students also used FTIR methodology to analyze fabric specimen collected from the crime scene. To evaluate the structural characteristics of the fabric specimen, students used compound light microscopy. Data analysis and deductive reasoning led the students to successfully identify the culprit of the crime.
