Cross-cultural and global collaboration is essential to progress in the STEM Fields. The interconnectedness of our world demands that students be prepared to work in partnership with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and from a variety of locations. This requires self-awareness and the ability to engage with multiple perspectives in the pursuit of knowledge. Global competence suggests the ability to recognize one's responsibilities to both the local and global community and to develop and apply knowledge in culturally-appropriate ways.<br/><br/>This paper will provide strategies to incorporate cross-cultural and global competencies into programming across the postsecondary curriculum. Methods for developing cross-cultural and global awareness among students, faculty, and staff will be discussed and key concepts pertaining to the successful integration of cultural and global learning into STEM programs will be introduced.<br/>Best practices involving the incorporation of cross-cultural and global competency development into programming will be shared with a view to the resources and cultural dynamics of particular institutions and student bodies.
