A synthetic pathway to convert 1 to anti-3 as a [9]cycloparaphenylene derivative was developed. The transformation involved an initial three intramolecular acylation reactions to form 2 followed by a second set of three intramolecular acylation reactions. The UV-vis and fluorescence spectra, reduction potential, and dynamic behaviors of anti-3 were investigated.
